Pulse Oximeter (Saturometer)

The Pulse Oximeter or Saturometer measures and displays the functional oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin (SpO2) as well as the heart rate of adults and children. Equipped with a color screen, no calibration is necessary, just place it on your finger, and press the single button to turn it on.

Why use a Pulse Oximeter?

Oxygen (O2) is transported from the lungs to the tissues through the blood. O2 is either attached to hemoglobin or free in the blood.

Cependant, la quantité d’O2 libre dans le sang est minime comparée à la quantité fixée à l’hémoglobine, et ne participe pas de façon significative à la quantité totale d’O2 dans le sang.

La quantité d’O2 dans le sang peut donc diminuer suite à une diminution de la concentration en hémoglobine (saignement, anémie etc …) ou par la diminution de la proportion d’hémoglobine ayant fixé de l’O2.

Cette proportion est appelée la saturation de l’hémoglobine en oxygène dans le sang artériel (SpO2).

Quand et comment utiliser l’oxymètre de pouls ?

Pour les personnes sujets à des pathologies cardiaques, des problèmes pulmonaires, des pertes de conscience, il est intéressant de surveiller leur saturation pulsée ou artérielle en oxygène.
