Discover our exclusive selection of faience pottery, these artisanal treasures that embody traditional Alsatian craftsmanship. Each piece tells the story of this ancestral technique, transforming raw clay into useful and elegant objects, decorated with the warm colors of Alsatian towns. Whether you're looking for a pitcher for your festive meals, a mug for your moments of relaxation, or a characterful plate for your collection, our faience combines functionality and timeless beauty.
Faience is one of the oldest pottery techniques, dating back to the Middle Ages. Its name comes from Faenza, a small town in northeastern Italy renowned for this craftsmanship. Alsatian faience perpetuates this tradition with pride and passion, continuing gestures passed down from generation to generation.
Composed of potash, sand, feldspar and carefully selected clay, each piece undergoes a complex and meticulously controlled manufacturing process. The resulting paste, porous by nature, requires an enamel coating to become waterproof and resistant.
"I bought a Strasbourg-decorated faience pitcher, it's magnificent! It sits proudly on my dining table and my guests find it splendid. A genuine museum piece, yet so practical and beautiful for family meals."
"As a pottery enthusiast, I started my collection with a mug and two plates from your selection. The quality of the faience, the authentic decorations, everything breathes genuine Alsatian craftsmanship. I come back regularly to add to my collection."
