The Mannele, a soft cuddly toy straight from Alsace
This Mannele plush toy, standing 22 cm tall and 8.5 cm thick, takes on the round, appetising silhouette of the well-known Alsatian little man, in a lovely gingerbread-coloured ochre shade. Its embroidered face shows a mischievous smile, a little red nose and freckle-like dots on its cheeks, while a red bow topped with a lavender pompom decorates its neck. On its rounded tummy, the word "Alsace" is carefully embroidered, proudly recalling its regional origins.
Fitted with a hanging loop, this plush toy hangs easily from a door, a window handle, a Christmas tree or a bedside table, bringing a touch of softness and local colour all year round, and especially around St Nicholas Day, when Alsatian bakeries make brioche men in its likeness.

The Mannele, a living tradition in Alsace
Far more than just a treat, the Mannele (also known as Manala in some villages) is one of those small rituals that mark the Alsatian winter. Every year, as 6 December approaches, young and old alike look forward to this little brioche man, a symbol of generosity and sharing, passed down from generation to generation in the homes and bakeries of the region.
This plush toy draws on that emblematic figure to create an everyday companion, a tender object that keeps a piece of this warm Alsatian folklore alive all year round.
