Why Alsace Is Ideally Suited to a Three-Day Stay

Alsace presents a geographical characteristic particularly advantageous for visitors with limited time: the remarkable concentration of its main points of interest within a relatively small territory. In less than an hour's drive, one can move from the Strasbourg metropolis to the most remote villages of the vineyard.

Day 1 - Strasbourg, Alsatian and European Capital

The first day is naturally devoted to Strasbourg, historic capital of Alsace and seat of several major European institutions. The morning can ideally begin with the discovery of the Notre-Dame Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture whose unique spire rises 142 metres.

Day 2 - the Wine Route and its Picturesque Villages

The second day is devoted to discovering the Alsace Wine Route, a 170-kilometre wine itinerary crossing the most beautiful villages of the Vosges foothills. Riquewihr, often considered one of the most beautiful villages in France, stands out as an essential stop.

Day 3 - Colmar, the Alsatian Little Venice

The third and final day is devoted to Colmar, a city of art and history whose remarkably preserved historic centre makes it one of Alsace's most prized destinations. The Little Venice quarter, crossed by the canals of the Lauch.

Practical Tips to Optimise Your Stay

  • Accommodation: choose a central accommodation
  • Transport: a car remains the most practical means
  • The season: spring and summer offer optimal conditions
  • The pace: favour quality over quantity
