The little story...

The first Pompom Beanies in history were those worn by French naval officers.

Back in the day, cups were sewn in one piece, and there was usually a thread of wool that protruded from the top of the headdress.

Thus, in order to finalize the headgear in an even more aesthetic way, we deliberately added a pompom.

More than a simple decorative element, we quickly found another use for this ornament.

Effectively, the pom pom served as additional protection that allowed sailors to avoid hitting their heads in the narrow aisles of ships, where the ceiling was usually low.

The pom poms were also red in color.
