On May 5, 1948, the Prefects of Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin adopted an administrative flag for Alsace, established on the coat of arms proposed by the heraldist Robert Louis and the curator of the national archives of France Jacques Meurgey de Tupigny. This flag symbolises the identity and the rich history of our beautiful region.
