The thimble has its origins in Antiquity. The earliest examples, often made of bronze or bone, date back to the Roman Empire and made sewing easier. Its use spread in the Middle Ages, when thimbles began to be manufactured from metal and adopted more elaborate designs.
Over the centuries, thimbles have become not only practical tools, but also objects of art and collectors' items, usually adorned with engravings or cultural motifs. The Alsatian thimble embodies this tradition with its emblematic regional symbols : the stork, the crest and traditional Alsatian costume, transforming each piece into an authentic souvenir of Alsace.
