Jean-Jacques Waltz, alias Hansi or Uncle Hansi, is a French illustrator born in Colmar. In 1894, his father sent him to Lyon to study industrial drawing, painting and decorative arts. After his stay in Lyon, he returned to Alsace where he became famous as a designer of Alsatian postcards.
The motifs of his illustrations often combine idyllic village scenes with biting anti-German caricatures. Whilst at first glance his illustrations appear to be innocent scenes of Alsatian life, closer observation reveals a dislike of the Germans that was to become Hansi's trademark. This particularity makes his works collectible and appreciated by heritage enthusiasts.
PEFC paper (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) comes from responsibly managed forests. It is therefore environmentally friendly and durable over time, guaranteeing the preservation of this collectible postcard for future generations.
