Alsatian Postcards - A Tradition Standing the Test of Time

Postcards are still popular in tourist towns, and Obernai is no exception. In this souvenir shop on the Alsace Wine Route, the shop La Boite aux Trésors in Obernai sells several thousand a year. A figure that shows just how attached visitors remain to this little rectangle of paper that crosses borders and generations.

What holds customers back the most today is the price of a stamp, which is on average more expensive than the card itself! An amusing paradox that does not, however, prevent postcard enthusiasts from keeping this lovely tradition alive.
