Postcard Hansi representing Every Sunday we go to the Church of the Hansi Museum Collection, a classic Alsatian souvenir.
Jean-Jacques Waltz, alias Hansi or Uncle Hansi, is a French illustrator and artist born in Colmar. In 1894 his father sent him to Lyon to study industrial drawing, followed by courses in painting and decorative arts.
Upon his return to Alsace, Hansi became famous as a postcard artist, creating illustrations that combine idyllic village scenes with biting anti-German caricatures. While at first glance his works appear to be innocent scenes of Alsatian life, closer observation reveals a profound dislike of the Germans, which became Hansi's distinctive trademark and artistic signature.
The PEFC paper (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) used for this postcard is certified and sourced from responsibly managed forests, ensuring an environmentally friendly and sustainable product of lasting quality.
Complete your Alsatian postcard with decorated envelopes and discover our collection of Alsace postcards, humorous postcards, Hansi postcards, large Hansi posters, Alsatian recipes postcards and the Alsatian and Hansi Calendar.
