The Hansi Bookmark representing The Tireless Night Watchman is a piece of PEFC paper made in France from the Hansi Museum Collection. As its name suggests, this Alsatian bookmark allows you to mark a page of a book, to distinguish this page from the others in order to find it later, without damaging your book.

Dimensions, 19.5 cm x 5.5 cm
Jean-Jacques Waltz, alias Hansi or Uncle Hansi, is a French illustrator and artist born in Colmar. In 1894, his father sent him to Lyon to study industrial drawing, as well as painting and decorative arts. After his stay in Lyon, he returned to Alsace where he became famous as a postcard artist.
The motifs of his illustrations often combine idyllic village scenes with biting caricatures. Whilst at first glance his illustrations appear to be innocent scenes of Alsatian life, closer observation reveals a distinctive philosophy that marks his work.
PEFC paper (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) is certified paper that comes from responsibly managed forests. It is therefore environmentally friendly and sustainable over time, perfect for preserving your memories of reading in Alsace.
