Missing or Undelivered Parcel - What to Do and How to Avoid It ?

4676 Views 187 Liked

Why do parcels go missing?

The disappearance of parcels is caused in part by the spectacular growth of online shopping. If you cannot find your parcel even though the online tracking shows it has been delivered, you are not alone. This problem is increasingly common, especially since the rise of online commerce.

The number of parcels delivered has increased enormously in recent years, putting significant pressure on delivery drivers. Unfortunately, delivery errors have become frequent, especially when drivers are very busy.

Delivery drivers work under extreme pressure

A delivery driver may be required to deliver up to 200 parcels per day. If they are too slow or fill in the delivery note incorrectly, they receive a penalty. In France, there are many competing delivery companies that often use subcontractors.

The final delivery driver may be a self-employed worker earning only a few euros per delivery. They have no time to take their time - they must work fast.

What to do if your parcel has gone missing?

  1. Check the delivery address - make sure it is correct in your order
  2. Contact Déco Alsace customer service immediately if the address is incorrect
  3. If the address is correct, contact customer service for explanations and to locate your parcel
  4. Keep a record of all communications with customer service
  5. Request proof of delivery

If a claim is filed, the transport company will launch an investigation. If it cannot find the parcel, it will refund you the value within two to four weeks, provided you can prove its value.

How to avoid delivery errors in the future?

  • Favour collection point delivery - it eases the home delivery circuit
  • Carefully check your address with each order
  • Choose signed delivery for important orders
  • Track your parcel regularly from dispatch

At Déco Alsace, we offer several delivery options: Colissimo, Mondial Relay collection points and ChronoPost Shop2Shop. Visit our delivery methods page.
