Georges Ratkoff was born on 14 November 1942 in Paris. As a child, he spent several periods in Alsace. After many stays in Alsace, with Monique, his wife, he settled permanently in Munster, where he could pursue his artistic vocation.

This Alsace at peace with its past, its contradictions and its suffering, to appreciate life as it is, made up of light and shade, highs and lows, without ever losing the good humour and the precious elixir of joie de vivre that characterises the Alsatian people.
